Hi, me and my friend are both heading to Ainsdale beach in 2 weeks. I'm really excited as I've only ridden on the beach once..... when I was a kid..... on holiday ha ha. So really it's both of ours, and our horses first times. I was wondering wheres best to park? are there any charges? what would you take (incase there are things I haven't thought of). Also, I've been looking at tide times and its high tide throughout the day for next week. Is it possible to ride on there at high tide or does the sea come right in? Sorry for all the questions but any help is muchly appreciated. thank you  :P

Not much help really re parking etc but I put a pony on loan close to there many years ago . I used to pop over and take her out on the beach now and again. It was a fabulous stretch. As far as I can remember the tide doesn't come right in and there's always sand to ride on. I wouldn't follow the tide right out anyway as there's likely soft sand in places. Anyway just to say I'm envious!

I live less than an hour from ainsdale so tend to go a few times a year. Parking is open from April and costs £10 for a box/trailer. There is a pub car park next door which you can park for free and walk them down onto the beach but it is handy parking on the beach. Even if the tide is in you are usually fine parking. It's very flat.. a few dunes but I don't think you are meant to ride in them. Watch for the soft sand. I have known a few do tendons but in the times I've been have always been fine. I would just take what you would take to any day out. Maybe spare clothes in case you go for a swim and get wet? Ha! I'd also take water for the horses as I'm not sure if they have any. It can be windy so you might want to layer up in case it's hot/cold. Ainsdale really is one of my favourite places so enjoy!!
