Sooooo, anyone know what it's like? No website as far as I can see, but a fixtures list of sorts in the Farmers Guardian. Wondering if it's worth the journey for unaffiliated SJ and BSJA
Coo, does look nice. OH has been (before it was finished) & says there is a large arena & indoor warmup arena but not many facilities (seats etc!) for spectators. Loads of room for parking etc.
What is on & when? would like to see how events are run there, OH will be organising an event there next year.
The only thing I think they need to improve is the website... there is no information about the centre on the site other than it was being created. Could do with somewhere to check times, check schedules etc etc.
yep, very nice for the competitors, i took 2 horseys to the 1st ever event held there.
there is a viewing gallery but only a few chairs. They can put a full viewing gallery in with lots of seating but it cuts into the arena size and costs more for the show organisers.
My pony also took exception to the white fencing they use to split the arenas.
When i was there the show had split the main arena into 2 and had 2 huge show rings (good because there was 28 in one class) and then the warm up arena had been split to give a 3rd ring and a small warm up ring.
Be warned when you go, Aintree are a bit funny about haveing hay on site. You can only have haynets inside your lorry/trailer and youve got to pick up any droppings and stray bits of hay and take them home with you. Also there is a bit of a hike between the arena and the lorry parking!
It gets better - the first unaffiliated fixture goes (wait for it) clear round, junior novice, senior novice, junior intermediate, senior intermediate, junior open, senior open - and then a j/s 1.05m! That's going to be a very long day
and, if what you say about the collecting ring is true (20 x 55 - a tad on the small side by any standards) havoc during warm-up
I was so hoping for another decent venue and this is what they come up with - a titchy warm up, crazy schedule and no ringside seating
They ought to have given an extra 10m to the warm up and had a 30x55. Collecting rings are the competition prep area and you spend such an age in there!
the warm up dispite being split in 2 was big enough for 10 people to warm up in when i was there granted we we showing and not jumping though. I would think it would be plenty big enough for quite a few people to warm up in if it were not split in 2
