Passengers didn't know about it until the cabin crew opened the emergency exit doors.
If it was a complete and total power failure, pilot did a damn good job IMHO to get it to land the way he did without causing serious injury to anyone.
A metal sardine can without any power doesn't tend to fly or land very well on their own. Could have been a lot lot worse
