I've already posted this in tack room but just had a thought that maybe it would be better posted here:

Can anyone tell me about the different bloodlines? I'm looking to buy an akhal teke (favourite all time breed), and am so confused about the different 'types'.. It seems as though the differences are HUGE. So far I'm attracted to the posman line and gundogar (gelishikli) line. What I'm looking for is a jumper, and I'd like to specialise in eventing, so will need a lot of stamina. I'd like them to be a really smooth, dreamy ride, fast, but again with a focus on good jumping ability. I'm not into endurance or racing, but again would need to have good endurance/ stamina. Can anyone please give me some information on any akhal teke line... Experiences?

I cannot give you any advice but wish you luck it is a beautiful horse. Because I have rare breeds, I do know there has been concern with regard to in-breeding.

I hope you find someone who can guide you. Let us know how you get on.

I did reply on the other thread Kambarbay is the only one I know off he is a breeding stallion as well as doing some eventing, he has a website they may have some of his stock for sale.

Just looked on his site and he is of Posman breeding and they have some of his stock but they are not pure bred, they have put him with mainly Warmblood mares.

This might help. A section from Ak-Tek website in France. The president of the French Association is based at the National Stud, Pompadour. I also know that a Director of the French National Stud who is a world judge for Arabians and advisor to WAHO on the Shagya, is also very knowledgeable with regard to the Akhal-Tek.

You can probably find an on-line translation service and many people at the French national stud speak English. I note the website also has English if you click the flag.

Rollin: thanks for the website link, I google translated it and it has some useful information. Will keep u updated.
Pinkvboots: yeah I've just noticed there are no pure blood foals from Kambarbay and I'm only interested in pure blood... But thanks for checking!
Rebelrebel: actually I was planning to probably buy from Russia (was thinking Stavropol stud) but my plan was to not pick a stud but instead pick a sire I like and then go to whatever stud he's based at (or his offspring are at)... That's why I'm researching the different bloodlines first so I can choose which stud. Thanks for the link, the stud looks lovely!
