A little bit of a rant, well sort of :)

Arthur is proving to be exactly as described with regards to his behaviour (saintly in every regard). I'm mad keen to get out hacking with him. There are some brilliant routes here. The weather has been fabulous. The farrier has been today, and declared Arthur ready to restart work (he'd been off for a year and a half prior to purchase). I even have a saddle that fits perfectly. After much searching I have sourced a cinch strap to fit him and should have it by next week. And I think my confidence gremlins have died, wahey! :D

<so where is the rant, they wondered; has Arizahn forgotten how to rant?>

Well, it appears that my back has decided that it isn't going to sort itself out. That irksome twinging sensation has begun waking me in the night and crippling me when moving. There are popping sounds coming from it. Fell over again today. I already switched entirely to western riding to allow for my inability to use my lower leg properly (knees). And my left hip has been grumbling...oh dear :(

Running out of parts to break down/wear out. MRI next Monday morning. Neurological tests re the lack of sensation in extremities that afternoon. I'd cross my fingers but can't be sure this won't cause further injury! Very scared that it may be psoriatic arthritis. If that isn't spelt correctly, you may pelt me with handfuls of soggy beet :p

<wondering if Danilon would help any as cannot have codeine or other related pain relief>

Anyhow. Life is generally fantastic here :) And I just wanted to say cheers for all of the support that I've had on here. It's made a huge difference. So this is a thread for all the other frustrated riders on box and/or field rest. May the vets be kind to all of us, and all our albatrosses be little ones! Ideally fossilised...but not in amber; we don't want a repeat of that mess with those dinosaurs!

I hope it all goes well at the hospital on monday and that they can sort out some pain relief for you. Then once the cinch arrives, you might then be able have a little potter on the saintly one. :)

PS don't forget the photos! ;)

Thank you.

Oh, there shall be pottering, I'll hire a crane for mounting and dismounting if need be! He's calm enough to actually make this feasible btw :) I promise many pictures...

LOL. :D

I passed a cherry picker today and all I could think was how handy it would be to have one. Rugging/saddling/mounting giant horses, no issue! Plus I could creosote the stables without wobbling about on a tall ladder for the high bits, clean the roof of the trailer and rescue cats from trees with no bother. :) :p

I'm sure your saint will stand immobile, as mine does next to a high mounting block, so that you can mount and dismount at your leisure, using stirrups or not, as the fancy, or the back, takes you.
I am on box-rest atm because of a broken foot and rather miffed to be missing all the best autumn hacking weather but at least I know what is wrong, that it won't last indefinitely and can get about in the yard.
I will cross my fingers for you that your back isn't something too serious and clears up fairly quickly.
I suggest that you ask for a referral to the pain management clinic, pending a diagnosis.
Looking forward to the photos of pottering.
