Is it me or does anybody who has ridden in any of the Albion dressage saddles find they make you lean forward and put your lower leg back so you are always fighting to stay in the right position ? And does anybody have any recommendations/thoughts about any of the synthetic dressage saddles ?

I bought an Ultima Platinum earlier last year after riding in a Saddle Company dressage saddle for a few years. I bought the Albion specifically because I felt the stirrup bars were set further back than my SC saddle so I wasn't constantly fighting for shoulder, hip, heel alignment, so um in a word - no! :-)

Snap - but not the Ultima, mine was a 2nd hand SL but I had the same problem with the SC saddle due to placement of the stirrup Bar.

Wasn't a fab feeling when you sat on your Albion, I didn't want to get off! Lol! I suddenly felt like I was a bit of a better rider!

Must say mine is the comfiest saddle ever and I feel it puts me in a nice position without holding me there. Have you had a saddler out to check the fit of it?

Exactly! Had a MTM dressage for my previous horse and that was perfect, the SC was all that was in my budget at the time and I stuck with it for 9 months but my position went to pieces, it was such a joy to get into the Albion! Apart from anything else the SL was as short flap and my little legs were much better suited than all the bulk under my leg on the SC.

I have an old 2nd hand Albion Legend which I finally found after trying nearly a dozen different dressage saddles on my boy. I find the Albion lovely and I also have an Albion K2 jump saddle which is fab.

I did however have the feeling you have had in the two Frank Baines that I tried - they were both lovely saddles but they both tipped me forward - I coudn't even sit to my horses canter in one of them! So, I do know how you feel - hope you can find a way to resolve it.

Used to ride in an Albion SLK and hated it with a passion. But then I've never found any model of Albion comfortable.

However, I know people who love them to bits and who wouldn't ride in anything else!

Tried both a Wintec and a Tekna DR saddle. Would vote Tekna over Wintec.

I have an albion platinum it is the comfiest saddle i have ridden in. I have found that you just need to figure out the right stirrup length for you. I ride longer in this saddle than my old one.

I have 3 Albions at the moment have had 2 of them for 5 and 7 years . I remember the first time I rode in them it was a great feeling . I had a big problem with the platinum for the last couple of months thought it was the horse as I couldn't sit properly especially in canter and the I could not get the horse in front of my leg , got saddler out (been using him for years but this is the first year I haven't done a 6 month check left it a year as they were going so well ) anyway what had happened was the changeable head had broken in 2 places ! Poor horse . But since I have had it back horse hates it so tried my other one on her which she went well in but I haven't ridden in that one for a few years as sold the horse it was for but found it made me lean forward and put my lower leg back . I will try altering my stirrup lengh as suggested by samsbilly see if that helps
