For those of you with an Albion dressage saddle please can you tell me how you find them? Do they come up standard with the fitting compared to other makes? I am seriously thinking about buying the Platinum Royale in particular, and know they are adjustable via the saddler but have heard Albions come up on the narrower side. Your views would be appreciated please.

I'd heard the opposite - certainly my highland's in a MW Albion dressage saddle, but a wide Ideal VSD... Don't know about the Platinum royale specifically though.

Mine's old, but lovely :D

I ride in a platinum royal on one of my livery horses and I have found it the most comfortable and stable dressage saddle I have ridden in. The horse is a medium wide and the albion is a medium wide. It was fitted professionally and had some of the flocking adjusted. I would say however that they are pretty average fitting saddles. I really like them and find they fit a wide range of horses.

I heard that albions come up on the wide side, my connie is normally some where between a wide and a medium wide and his mw albion fits him. Again mines old but lovely and comfy and has smallish blocks so your not held in which I like.

Ask if the panels and tree are like the SL or the SLK. The SL tends to fit a lot of horses and a variety of shapes. My much loved SLK fitted my warmblood x, but not my ISH - different tree. Blooming annoying as I personally preferred riding in the SLK!

I can't compare against others but my novice horse and my big CB lad were both in the platinum ultima.. The big chap a 17.1 appy x Danish Wb.. I love that saddle.. It's very very comfortable and the boys rode nicely in it.. Both in medium wide fitting..

I am currently looking at an albion comfort dressage for my girl, so will be watching this with interest
