Hi, I am bidding on an Albion saddle on ebay at the moment and have been given the serial numbers 13952, that is on the sweat flap. I understand these refer to the year of manufacture. Can anyone tell me precisely, from this information, the age of the saddle?

Also I believe there are several Albion Selecta models. Does anyone have any information they can share about identifying the different types of Selecta that came out each year, during the period they were made (not made now).

The bid finishes today so I cannot contact the manufacturer.

Most saddle ID numbers are applied consecutively, so unless you know someone else with a number very close to yours so they might know the year of manutfacture, you're stuck I'm afraid. Some of ours used to begin with 7f and I've had lots of people think that might be a 7 fit (XXXW!) and buy on that basis - I have no idea why they started with that but it was nothing to do with width! The maker will have a log of each and every saddle, though bear in mind traditional beech laminate trees can be altered a little, so it may have changed in width.

Not much help as my Selecta is a second generation one from 1998 in nut brown and the number on the warranty card is 3285055. Bought it new for my mare, had it reflocked a couple of years ago to fit her larger son.

I say go for for it if it's in good condition and it's what you want.
I love mine.
