Anyone have an opinion about the Albion k2 VSD saddle? If you do a bit of jumping, are you better getting a regular GP? Does the straighter cut of the VSD interfere with jumping? Thanks all.

My mum has got an Albion jumping saddle although I'm not sure which one - but OMG it is so comfy and nice!!! My mum seems to think it has really improved her riding too...

I have an Albion K2 and it's gorgeous but then that's just my opinion but everyone who has ridden in it agrees! I also have a GFS VSD which came with my horse, it's a comfortable saddle but doesn't have as deep a seat as the Albion and tiny knee rolls.

I got the Albion as I have a young horse prone to being spooky and spinning so needed the extra 'stickability' of a deeper seat and knee rolls. If I had a choice (and lots of money!) I would have a dressage saddle (rather than VSD) for the straight cut and flatwork and the K2 for hacking and jumping.

Sorry Jen, excuse me for being thick, so are you saying that the Albion VSD is pretty good for jumping/hacking, but ideally you'd rather have a dedicated dressage saddle?

I have an Albion VSD and use it for everything, its really comfy and not had a problem with jumping, but then, I dont do great heights

Back again now!!

ERm well the VSD (GFS) is a lovely saddle and I got on fine with it, just when my horse started being a 'horse' and messing about I personally didn't find it gave me enough to sit 'into', BUT I do think it's a sort of jack of all trades type of saddle but geared towards flatwork and showing rather than jumping.

I hate jumping (!) but when 'forced' to do it by my instructor I just feel that I am sitting 'into' the Albion and not 'on top' as I do in the GFS, does that make sense? Then again maybe I just like a deep seated saddle.

Rode in my friends dressage saddle, she has a (serious) dressage horse! and it was fantastic, so if all this is making any sense at all... in MY ideal world I would use the Albion for jumping and the dressage (whatever make) for flatwork! BUT if I could only choose one saddle I would go for the Albion K2 GP as it's the more comfortable and probably more useful for what I want.

Let me know if that makes sense or if I am still talking drivel!!

p.s. I was thinking of selling the GFS saddle but looked on ebay and they don't go for much so decided to keep it if I do showing and it fits my horse like a glove, and looks brand new. cant' understand though why they don't go for more as it is a lovely well made saddle.
