Have the option of either a standard Albion SLK ultima that is used but excellent condition or a platinum model that is practically new. There is £500 difference.

As far as I can tell the platinum are the same but much more adjustable which would be useful.

Do you think the platinum is worth the extra £££?

In terms of fit and the way they ride are they much different?

Thanks :)

I have the Platinum, I chose it over the standard Ultima as they gave a different ride (akthough it was a while ago and I can't really tell you why!!) The quality of the leather is also much better.

Could you please PM me how much the Platimum Ultima you are looking at is? Mine no longer fits but I am not sure whether it is worth selling it or keeping hold of it and hoping he muscles back up into it!

I've got a platinum (my horse) and have also ridden in an SLK (friend's horse).

The key difference is the adjustability. My warmblood does change shape considerably thru the seasons.

Bear in mind that it does cost several hundred to get the platinum adjusted. Not had it adjusted so far, but suspect it might get widened (horse fitter not fatter) at next fitting.

If you have a young horse, or perhaps a horse you plan to sell on, I would go for the platinum.

I will PM you lillie

Interesting you say it gave a different ride - do you think that was due to way it fit the horse or you?

The platinum is the one my saddler has in at the moment and I can go and see it tomorrow. Rode my horse in a standard ultima and liked it and fit horse well but it was reserved.

However horse now currently on box rest so wouldn't be able to ride him in it before purchasing. Would prob buy then get saddler to check when back in work (fingers crossed!!)

Think I may be completely mad as feel like I may be jinxing my horses' recovery! I know i should probably just wait until horse is 100% sound and back in full work but I would like this saddle to bring him back into work (hate current saddle) and he has not changed shape much and he was only in light work when originally fitted. I think he may change shape when back into full work hence why I thought maybe adjustable would be better. Don't want to miss out as not seen any advertised for a while and this is first one saddler had in for couple of months. Hopefully if not right could sell it on at minimal loss.

Before i got my SLK Ultima i tried both on my horse, i much prefered the SLK to the Platinum. It also costs at least £200 to get the Platinum adjusted. I actually sold my SLK recently and now have my Wow on my mare, wouldnt have anything else now its a million times comfier and nicer to ride in than the SLK.

Hmmm sounds like they are quite different then?

The platinum is quite a lot of £££ when I havent actually ridden in one and prob harder to sell on as more expensive?

Looks like I will just have to be patient and wait until he's back in work! Gah!

No if I remember rightly it was how I sat in it that made a difference. Both fitted horse perfectly!

Interesting Tempi you went from an Albion to a WOW. I did it the other way round!! I wouldn't have a WOW again if you gave it to me!
