I was just wondering if anyone had ever changed the headplate on one of these saddles, or does a saddler have to do it? My girl has put on some topline and I feel it is a bit tight, not too sure how much of a job it is without pulling it to bits first. Will phone Albion tomorrow to check.

Albion recommended that i had a saddle fitter out to do this, so she is coming today. Hope you got yours sorted okay!

Hope you had better luck than I did! When I bought the saddle they just happened to explain that the tree was adjustable etc but not that when horse changed shape from having time off that I would have to get a new front part of the tree which is now costing another £175! Saddle fitter couldn't adjust the original one as it was too wide and wouldn't adjust enough.
Hope you had better luck.

Hi, I think I did have better luck than you, sorry! Saddlefitter adjusted the flocking and advised that she is a MW which is what the saddle is atm. The flocking lifted it at the withers and it fits perfectly now. She did say that she would have charged me £150 to change the headplate though. In the long run, you will probably save money as you wont have to change saddles if your horse's shape changes. (I am wondering if you get to keep the headplate that is in now? It is yours!)

Ah thats an interesting thought, I will actually tell the saddlefitter when I speak to them that I want it and see what they say. I hadn't thought of that but now you've put it in my mind I suppose it is actually mine so will make sure I get it.
Thanks for that and good for you that yours was quite easily rectified. By the way mine is going to be £175 for the new head so that might be another question to ask them! Also a week has now passed and still no joy so I am pretty peeed off! It's exactly 4 weeks since I made the first phone call so not happy with the whole saga!
