Got Alee home late last night. She travelled and loaded like a pro (very unlike her) she apparently had been a star whilst at the vets and was like a lamb to lead out. This is the same 4 year old that has to be led in a bridle / stallion chain and that hates being in a stable.
Anyway final dianosis is bilateral proximal suspensory desmitis. So Alee is now on 6 weeks box rest with 15 mins walk out twice daily increasing to half an hour after 4 weeks (and I haven't got a walker). She will have 2 more lots of shock wave therapy in 2 and 4 weeks and then after 6 weeks if sound will begin light work.
So although I am still very very upset I can see a very small light at the end of the tunnel. However my vet ( not the RVC vet) is very very worried that she did this on very little work. He is concerned that they will not hold up to proper schooling if she gets that far.
So the next step, if shockwave doesn't work, will be operative at which point my insurance money will have run out so I will be being extra nice to my bank manager.
Now for the next suprising fact, PSD can be caused by counter rotated pedal bones, so I am told by one vet, therefore I am pleased that we have started addressing this already. Discharging vet tells me to have the remedial shoes removed as they won't help in the slightest. Apparently PSD can't be casued by this!!!! Someone please explain to me why 2 vets are giving me different opinions??!!
Anyway she is home and being her usual bolshy self. I walked her inhand this morning and she was great she just hates her stable (and after this will only hate it more) any ideas or tips on making these 6 weeks better for her (BTW I am not a fan of stable toys!!!!)
