What alternatives are there to alfa a oil for a very elderly pony who needs a high energy chaff but can't cope with the 'stalkiness' of alfalfa? (His teeth are fine and get checked annually by a dentist, but due to age he is missing a few now).
He manages fine with topchop zero but needs something higher energy than that. As he has Cushing's, it must be low/no sugar. (He is on 1 tablet of prascend to manage this.)
I was thinking an oat straw or grass chop with added oil although he already gets micronised linseed. And not sure grass chop would be an issue with the Cushing's.
