Hi - giving my boys diet a complete overhaul.

Have done a lot of research on feeds to suit, and have decided on Allen & Page Cool & Collected.
Slight tangent - anybody used/using this? What do you think?

Anyway, it is suggested by the company that to receive the full benefit of this feed that I do not use any other feed containing alfalfa, barley or molasses.
Only problem is he has always been fed Alfa-A Original.

Gratefully appreciated if anybody can suggest a suitable chaff.

Thank you :)

I'm using just chop at the moment.. It's very basic, just a mix of meadow hay and straw..

Have a look at the honey chop range my local feed store order it in for me.
They do a basic one which has oat straw only in it as well.

Dried grass or oat straw chaff.

Ditto this.

Commonly available grass chaffs are Readigrass, Graze-On and D&H Just Grass.

Thorogoods do an unmollassed oat straw chaff with nothing else added, and Ossichaff do one that is just unmollased oat straw chaff and chopped meadow hay.

Another who loves Honey Chop Oat Straw, despite the name it is just chopped oat straw. My very fussy feeder absolutely loves it. There is hardly any dust at all from it and it is very high quality. I like that I can feed it in bulk now but it hardly has any calories. It comes in 15kg sacks though which has filled 3 dustbins but is lasting ages. Good value for money!

I have a NF mare who is allergic to Alfalfa amongst various other things - probably including herself! I feed her on D& H Justgrass and she loves it. I also use A&P Fast Fibre to blend in her supplements with her Top Spec Balancer. She also has, when required, Top Spec Fibre Plus as there are no "hidden extras" in their feeds. She went itchy and lumpy on D&H and Spillers equivalent
