Alfalfa pellets and carob??

Anyone feeding this combination? Had a chat with a guy from valley view feeds and he couldn't recommend it enough. I have a massively highly strung 17.2TB, can only do low level work but can't go without feed as weight just falls off him. Currently feeding Saracens essential balancer and non mollased hi-fi. He can't tolerate high sugars or starch and cereal diets aren't great. I'm only asking as it costs me a fortune feeding him. Also if anyone knows a calmer that actually works that'd be great too, I've tried most magnesium based ones and Valerium, didn't touch him, might help keep weight on if he wasn't always stressing!!

Micronised linseed and slobbermash are the best for weight gain without adding in any rubbish to the feed. Most of the standard commercial feeds contain alfalfa/fillers/molasses (even if just a light dusting).
