hi, my boy is a lovely 13'2 is a Dales X, Im unsure.as to whether I should Pull his mane and trim his feather, in order for him not to be laughed at as a potential all rounder/ jumping pony. He is cutrently advertised and I am wondering if his small.fat cob appearance is distracting people from enquiring as he isnt your typical pony club spindly pony, nor is he your typolical ploddy cob. pics show his capabilitos, ridden jump pics are from first jump under saddle... do you agree a hair cut may open a few.more.doors for him? excuse my punctuation..im using my phone pol!

For me personally, he would appeal to me more after he'd had a bit of a hair cut and trim, BUT that said im sure someone who was in to showing may say the opposite!

I guess it depends who you're aiming him at?

I agree, I think he'd look more like a jumping/competition pony if he had a hair cut. Though of course he then wouldn't appeal as much to the coloured cob market

I'd pull so he had a nice short mane, chop the tail so it's midway down the canon bone and take the feathers off... He could look like quite a cute little PC type without the hair, but with I think you're alienating that section of the market because it makes him look like a gypsy cob. No bad thing if he was, but as he's not it doesn't help!

He's very cute :D

I think I agree with everyone here. I would trim him short I bet his mane is like my lil ginge's and comes flying up when he jumps and I nearly get a mouthful :D

Exactly my thoughts, hes never.going to be a show cob as only 13'2 and not a terrible amount of bone...whereas with his jump, can do attitude and as a 4 yr old who has the most rhythmical paces in the world, I feel Id be better fobbing off those after a hairy, and aiming him at the allround safe child friendly family unnafiliated or riding club competition market?
If he was 15'2 he wouldnt be going anywhere but I have to think of his best intrests and.let him have a good life. :D

Aww he's such a sweet looking boy. Maybe pulling his mane a little bit so you can see his face a bit more would help, and trimming his tail straight at the end but I wouldn't go too far as cobs are meant to be hairy teddy bears. If he's well behaved I'd expect him to be every mums dream of a first pony for their little angel as cobs are generally known for being sturdy, hardy and fairly unflappable ponies

If he's only four and looks to have a bit of cob in him, I'd leave him for another 12-18 months and see if he grows any more. In answer to your question though I'd pull him :)
