Ok
My lad pulls shoes constantly, decided to change farriers as it never used to happen.
New farrier comes, amazed at just how small his feet are, can order NB shoes in the smallest size.
Then takes a good look at hoof wall, soles, frogs. Says he has v little to no wall, v flat footed, extremely weak & soft soles.
Thinks best way forward for now is aliminum plates.
Has anyone got any experience with have aliminum shoes on in the past, know they are much lighter, luckily I have minimal to no road work, so hope they last a 6 week cycle anyway.

Thanks for all info you have

If I was in your position, which I pretty much am with my girl having similar hooves to your horse, I would be taking the shoes off completely.

This could have been mine 18 months ago, his feet were too weak to hold shoes on and I could bend his sole with my thumb. He's been barefoot since then and his feet are different altogether, good soles and twice the wall thickness. I still use boots on him for long rides but he can do 5 miles roadwork barefoot no trouble. Miles of walking on the roads in his boots last year really helped him
