Brought him in this evening, and he looked a bit lame to me, couldn't find any heat in any of his legs, but still cold hosed all his legs, I let him relax a bit, and walked him around afterwards to see if he was as bad. He was much worse, he couldn't actually walk properly, was hopping around more than anything. Ring vet up to come check on him, quickest he could come was an hour later, which had to suffice. Put Ali in his stable, with great difficulty I might add. He could barely move, and that isn't usually Ali! He had a good appetite, was munching his hay until the vet came. Bring Ali out, he didn't appear lame at all. Typical. And he looked to be in dreadful pain earlier when he was walking. Vet couldn't find any heat either, but gives him a bit of bute and now he's on box rest for a few days. Vet says he'll be fine for the Ossory show on the 22nd though, but when I brought him to walk round after I'd cold hosed his legs he looked awful, honestly, I broke into tears at that stage, I was so worried that it might've been something serious. Ali will not enjoy box rest one bit though, but I am so relieved that it's nothing serious!

hope he's ok, maybe if he looks lame again it could be a hoof abscess, cos my pony has had them quite a lot before and there is a rapid deterioration in lameness, my pony was fine one minute then unable to walk the next! and sometimes the pus in the foot shifts and makes it more comfortable for the horse so it looks like they are sound again but unless the pus is removed they will go lame again.

just thought i'd suggest this but as your vet has been out im sure he would have noticed if that was the problem.

Aw poor Ali, I hope he's ok. Fingers crossed
