I like Welsh cobs too, but then again i like most breeds really, don't really have one i dislike that much.

The first horse I owned was a section D - he was gorgeous to look at (had been showed before I got him) and really well constructed, and he was nice to ride. He only wanted to jump 2'6" though so I sold him.

The only thing I found was that if you gave him an inch he would take a mile

I've had cobs all my life but have decided to sell my present one and go for something different that will hopefully WANT to do a bit of work without the mind games and general arguements! Maybe then I can progress a little and do the things I did many years ago when I used to ride the more athletic types.

why dont you like cobs? have you ever had one? my light weight cob is ace he will jump anything he will jump 3,3 and he is only learning go anywhere box clip gallop stop and doesnt cost a fortune to keep and with a wonderfull personality

was stabled next to lovely show cob at arena UK earlier this year he was a sweetie so easy and kind and quiet compared to my big beast that threw all the toys out of the pram the moment he came off the box. Really mr cob him never thought of cobs before but started watching the show cobs now look nice to take out and hunt.

i dont mind the light weight cobs its the fat and lazy ones i dont like! no havent had cob before always had section B's when i was little then got mickey my 13.2 allrounder (new forest X) who is fab, but decided show jumping was my fave thing so bought bisciut. but if i got the section D (flora) and she jumped i would do working hunters with her

That's a bit of a 'general' comment, after all the 'fat lazy cobs' you are commenting on, slimmed down could be the lightweight ones you don't mind. I have owned several different sorts of horses over the years, including a TB, a TBxID and currently my Irish Cob. I loved them all, now being a mum of three and not so brave my 'little' cob suits me fine. And when I want him to he easily jumps a track of 1m. (probably would go higher but that's enough for me). He definitely isn't a plod, but also isn't an airhead. Everyone has preferences I know, but don't mock till you have tried.........

Welsh cobs = Labradors of the horse world... Always trying to eat something they shouldn't, and I swear they would wag their tail and pant if possible.

how right you are!! mine is an overgrown andrex puppy!!

I dont hate cobs. There are some of the type and I think oh dear god but I have seen a fair few and they are quality, I do really like most of the cobs that some hhoers have aswell.

I'm not keen on cobs but I like a good quality cob like Diane and Peppers Pepper

and JoBo's Bodey for some examples I really really like them. A bit like any horse that looks fun and game....

I would never have a cob (I shared a cob for 2 years and then 3 years before that rode Welsh D etc. so have had my fair shar) but never again Im afraid...

Lets all keep some perspective here! There are fat and lazy horses of every breed and shape and size. There are also slim and zippy ones. Sometimes people say "lazy" when they really mean safe and slow and ploddy and boring. Some riders like lazy (safe, slow) horses, some don't. Some riders like zippy, electric horses, some don't. Sorry thedunthing but I think your statement was sweeping and not thought through. Not sure if you were bored and hoping to elicit exactly this sort of reply! I have a Section D who is the love of my life not because of his breed or colour or girth size but because of who he is in his head. He looks after me and I look after him. I'd love any other breed of horse that would do that for me but because he's a cob, yes, I love cobs!
