Well as you all may or may not know had a mediocre to poor dressage test yesterday, scored 36.2 so nothing spectacular - it took us 2 and 1/2 hours to get there and it usually only take 1hour 3/4!! She was just not going to play ball, which i understand - she was tired!

This morning got up at 5am and left at 5.45am to get to Mattingley and the sun was shining!!
grin.gif
Walked the XC again, and then got tacked up for the SJ. She SJ absolutely beautifully
grin.gif
really nice clear round and felt lovely- so really pleased.

Off to the XC and one poor girl was unable to get her hat tagged because the stewards couldnt see the kite mark so Lucinda Green let her borrow her hat - must have made the girl's day
grin.gif
Lucinda was lovely
smile.gif
Anyway Hattie gave me an absolutely awesome ride XC all the way round to the corner just 5 fences from home, i didnt see a stride at all and bless her she jumped regardless but wacked the fence with both her knees and nose dived over it and i flew off underneath her! she managed to just about stay on her feet (i think!) and nearly missed treading on me - she studded the back of my hat instead and later i looked and found she'd cracked it - in need of a new hat now! Anyway i rolled over and got up straight away and began to trapse after her as she trotted smartly towards the next fence with no intention of stopping! Never been winded before but i was definitely winded - very strange feeling not being able to control your breathing and the rasping sound was just wierd!
blush.gif
a kind lady who i think was walking the course at the time walked down to the next fence with me and about half way there turned and said "oh btw are you alright" to which i replied that i was fine
smile.gif
and that the fall had been all my fault
mad.gif
(still kicking myself now for it)

Anyway Hattie was sound so i hopped back on (well clambered very ungracefully actually!
wink.gif
tongue.gif
) and she finished the course beautifully, i took it slowly but positively - obviously her little breather had made her full of running again because she was keen to go full pelt!!!! (plus we were both running high on adrenaline!) So i was absolutely chuffed with her, ok we had a fall which was not particularly nice, but it didnt phase her, we both live to fight another day and she gave me such a great feel - she really didnt deserve to fall. Makes me realise just how inexperienced i am having never had a school master, im learning on the job as it were! But we'll put this down to experience and she'll have a little break and her next run is intro anyway so we can build her confidence back up there if need be - so all is not lost (apart from my hat
smirk.gif
)

So we left little mattingley and joined the traffic jams on the M3 and M25!!! Fiddler was at the vet in Kent (poor boy had been there for 3 days instead of 1 because we were at Mattingley yesterday so couldnt pick him up!) and we needed to get him this afternoon so instead of taking Hattie home and then driving the 3 hour round trip later to get Fiddly we drove from Hampshire to Kent and then picked Tiddly up and took them both back from Kent to Sussex! My poor Mum is knackered as is Hattie who had a 4 hour trip home
blush.gif
She has a puffy knee now so lots of cold hosing i think for my ginger girlie
smile.gif

and for those of you who wanted a second report on the ground: it is absolutely perfect
smile.gif
holding up beautifully and couldnt be any better really

Hard luck although it doesn't sound like the fall will have knocked your confidence. Something like that happens so easily and at least you are both ok.

Lovely pics looks really happy and going really nicely.

ah bless her for trying to help you out!

Least you back on and finished that must have boosted both of yours confidence

Lovely pics she looks lovely!!

And just to say i know how you feel when you know a fall is nothing to do with them they were just trying there best to help you out!

You both live to fight another day.
A real shame you took a tumble but sounds like it didnt dent Hatties confidence whatsoever which is the main thing.
She looks fabulous in the dressage and sjing.
Well done, even if you did get a uncharacteristic 36 in the dressage.

Oh what a bummer it didnt quite all work out but sounds as though you both jumped really well !
She is looking really superb in her photos and has muscled up loads!
That is one hell of a lot of travelling you guys have done in two days-blimey you must have some energy!!

Such bad luck about the fall but at least you are both ok!

She looks lovely, especially like the last SJ picture
smile.gif

thanks guys
smile.gif

the most irritating thing is that it was really really not her fault and it was my poor ability to wait and check her infront of the fence that meant she nose dived
frown.gif
atleast she knows now that the XC fences are solid! before today she'd never touched a XC fence!

i know!! we've travelled nearly 400miles in two days!
blush.gif
in an old battered 4X4 and an Ifor trailer
blush.gif
we're all nodding off now! including the horses!

Bummer about the fall, you must both be tough cookies to get back on and finish - well done!!

It sounds like she is going brilliantly, once you have both got a bit more experience together you'll be well away!
smile.gif

She looks fab in the dressage too - dread to think what score me and Badger will get!! 60...70...
tongue.gif

hehee!! i was walking after Hatts trying to get my breath back and then i heard over the tanoy "Abbie and Ambastor Princess are being reunited" i was was thinking "hand on a minute my horse is another 100metres away from me and has only just been caught" so i broke into a run and scrambled back on her! The fence judge at that fence said "just wait a minute and take a deeeep breath"!!!!!!
smirk.gif
H was ready and raring to go - she didnt know what all the fuss was about
wink.gif

Im sure your dressage will be lovely BB2
grin.gif

lol. i always worry about getting back on - no way can I get on off the floor and I'm crap at leg ups too!
smirk.gif
Last time I fell off Badger XC he stood there looking at me so I climbed on the jump as a mounting block!
grin.gif

LOL i had to do that too!! the next fence happened to be a chair so i used that!
wink.gif
grin.gif
i was too high on adrenaline and buzzy to try and get on from the ground
smile.gif

Aww well done!!
laugh.gif
The dressage score still isn't too bad even if it isn't your best, sounds like your SJ was fab as always! Lovely pics! And very unlucky about your tumble but sounds like Hattie was a star and well done for getting back on an finishing! At least you're both in one piece and haven't lost confidence.
smile.gif

Oh well done for finishing! It's all good experience, and if it makes you feel at all better, 36.2 would count as a brilliant score for me and I would be chuffed to bits with it...
grin.gif

Well done hon, that Dressage score is not to be sniffed at AT ALL!! And fab Sjing. The Xc was just one of those things, it happens to the best, but everything else went very well, so no probs
smile.gif
Looking forward to the festival?!

Hard luck, I heard you fall over the speakers, such a shame. But you too still looked fab as you finished the course.
I tried to take a picture of you at the last where I was fence judging but of all the pics I took it was the worst picture so it has been deleted.
Hope you are not too sore tomorrow and that hatties knees don't swell too much

Such a shame about the fall but well done on the rest and it sounds like no confidence lost.

Pics look great
smile.gif

Thanks for the ground update although it looks unlikely to run!! And I am leaving yard at 7.15am
crazy.gif

My poor Mum was really worried - and i knew she would be as soon as i realised i was sitting on the ground instead of on Hattie! so as i came through the finish i shouted "she was fantastic, it wasnt her fault at all, totally mine, she was ace!" or something along those lines and it was aimed at my mum but i think i said it soooooo louded about 20 people heard!
blush.gif
crazy.gif

ahh damn if id known you were at the last id have come and said hello! she jumped the last quite nicely - bless her - she seemed to really enjoy herself!
grin.gif
she kept locking onto the intro fences inbetween the PN fences!! i had to persuade that the aim was not to jump as many fences as possible!
wink.gif

well a few years ago, an eventer we know well said to me "if you dont fall off every so often you arent trying hard enough"!!!!!!
blush.gif
wink.gif

Am really looking forward to it
grin.gif
Think it will be a really fun experience and good for Hattie to drop back to intro again - an i can get my head sorted out and ready for Firle PN - she went clear round there last year as her first ever BE event round the PN so im determined not to let her down - ive done it too often now and its not fair on her when she's trying her very best and yet the muppet on board still cant help her out when she needs it!
mad.gif

She sounds like such a star!! I love your positive attitude as well!

My money is on Hatty and/or Abby doing very, very well in this eventing stuff!!
wink.gif

Thing is she is just sooooo amazing - ive never sat on such a talented horse, and i cant be cross with her because she's done nothing wrong yet im brilliant at beating myself up about getting things wrong (im a ridiculous perfectionist) so atm im trying to analyse what happened and what went wrong, how i could have improved what i did and then focus on the next event - when i let my mind wander to what might have been if i hadnt been such a muppet i bring such doom and gloom onto myself and those around me noones wants to be near me!!
blush.gif
- so im trying to takes the positives, sort out the negatives and move on asap (if that makes sense?)
smile.gif
tongue.gif

Hattie will be a star if muppet here doesnt keep letting her down
mad.gif
im determined to improve to help her because she deserves better than how i rode her today
wink.gif

Don't be so down on yourself, young horses will always make mistakes what ever the rider does, she needs to learn for herself what to do.

As much as we all want to improve, there will always be someone who would have road it better, and no rider is perfect!

From the pics I've seen you ride her beautifully, and personally I find the more I worry, the worse strides I get!
wink.gif

Abbie, you know you ride brilliantly! Stop beating yourself up about it - everyone makes mistakes sometimes and if you can learn from it then really it's a positive, not a negative. Onwards and upwards!
smile.gif
smile.gif

what a shame to hit the deck so near the end, but glad the rest went well, and you're both unhurt and unphased which is the main thing - good job on finishing
smile.gif

pics look lovely!

what a pity, but at least you're unhurt and finished well. I wouldn't be complaining about the dressage ,thats still better than what Rocky and I have ever got
tongue.gif

Good luck for the next event

I do like your horse!
Be careful, we assumed Chocolate wouldn't be that bothered by his fall the other week, but he was next time out, if possible find a low something or other to do before your next event. We went back to Intro height and it worked, but the first five fences were hard work for his rider, he wanted to go home!
I think he will be fine again now but we won't move up to Novice as planned but stay at PN until he feels right again.
Glad you are both ok, and go and offer that poor exhausted Mum of yours a drink or a foot massage or anything nice.. I know how she feels, so tired I bet she just wants to sleep!
