All I wanted was a nice calm hack last night!

but instead Jasper decided to do his usual spinning and going backwards and doing silly leaps and shaking his head for 20 mins until I got him across the field that leads to the bridleway!! Then after that he was good as gold, even did his first canter on a circle!(ok it was a huge circle in a stubble field but he could only go straight before!) Sometimes I just get so fed up of the battle to get him over to the bridleway with his napping! I sometimes feel like going back but have to keep going! Even though I always win and we always get to the bridleway, he still tries it everytime, when will he learn to just do it?!! What if one day he does manage to get me off? I feel like I'm forcing him to go on what should be a nice hack!! Any encouragement welcome!!! I feel like giving up!!

Honestly, it'll come

My boy was a persistant napper but each time he had a bit more fun, and slowly he's stopped . The other day we were out for an hour and a half with only one spin - and that was at some blue chalk

He used to rear, then leap from the rear - spin, attempt to shoot across any nearby fields..

It got a bit tedious

keep going, keep going and dont give up. You are doing well and im sure it will all fall into place. I have been working with one of my horses for over a year and now and he is now becoming one of the nicest horses I have ever ridden. so encouragement from me !

agree - just keep going. There must have been something in the air yesterday. My mare behaved very badly - tried to run through a practice of my dressage test and she insisted on A enter at canter on the spot. I eventually gave up! Just put it down to one of those days! I often feel like you do - and I still keep going (actually am sitting here now wondering why on reflection of last nights performance!) One day your horse will get bored of playing up and just behave
