I think there's absolutely no reason for it to be a problem!
If people don't wish to do it, don't.
I don't think anyone expects everybody on the forum to do it, and to start an argument with anybody who posts during the ten minutes would just totally spoil the real meaning behind doing it.
It's just an opportunity for those who want to, to stop and think for a moment.

Maybe just before the start of the silence post another thread as a warning its about to happen.

And perhaps write that if people don't want to get involved in it no arguing- or something along those lines

It is really sad :(

A 10 minute silence could be difficult and result in a war. Can we not have a mass posting and see if we can bring down the server in his honour?

The posts in SB all include requests that it doesn't turn into a bunfight if anybody should post during that 10 minute slot. :)

I can just imagine TFC's hysterics at the suggestion that we try to bring down a server 2 days before Christmas!

Tankey and I are quite hopeful that it might even act as a re-boot, a timely reminder that there is more to life than argueing on here. :)

I have just arrived back in the house stressed and fed up and feeling sorry for myself after being stuck in a broken down car for 4 hours and not getting the last of my shopping done. This has just shocked me back out of my own selfishness. So sad, I shall certainly join you in observing the ten minute silence on here.

Well done everyone, nothing we can do is ever going to bring him back, but it was a lovely gesture. Over 600 people registered in, and virtual silence for over ten minutes.

I didnt know walkingman but it is such a tragedy. Gabriel my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family tonight and over the festive period. There is a church over the road from my work, i will light a candle and say a prayer for your husband when i leave. My deepest condolences and sympathies at this terrible time. Rest in peace walkingman.

I hadn't read about this and wasn't online earlier anyway. How awful that someone was feeling this low they felt this was their only way out. It's just unimaginable reallly. RIP
