6 weeks ago a well known cheshire saddlers came to check my Thorowgood T6 saddle on my mare, i knew it wasn`t right as when i had ridden the saddle left ruffled hair marks on both sides of my mares withers!
They came out for a saddle check and advised me to go one gullet smaller and use a prolite, in the saddlers words " i would use that on my horse" so i thought ok, i will give it a go with the other gullet in, although remained a little doubtful on the fit! I wasn`t keen on getting them back out again as they had said it fitted 6 weeks ago! and wondered whether they would just try to fob me off again!!
Anyway 6 weeks later it was still ruffling the fur and a visit from the physio, a lady on my yard suggested i try all saddle solutions??
I hadn`t heard of them before but gave the girl a ring, she came out last night and was brilliant!! she said the problem was that my 6 year old ID x mare had developed everywhere, but on her withers, she is a bit hollow, from having bad fitting saddles on her all her life! she came over from Ireland 1 year ago when i bought her! With having narrow saddles on her she had not developed muscle around her withers, that and the saddle being a poor fit meant an unhappy horse!!
I tried 2 saddles on, they were adjusted with air to fit my girl, and OMG what an instant difference!!!
I just wanted to recommend Claire and her company as she has fitted a saddle which my girl is happy with!!!! and more to the point can be adjusted once she starts to build muscle!
