Im 5 2/3 summat like that

used to have a 13.2hh pony (when i was younger)

used to ride a 10hh pony a few months back

currently mainly on a 13.1hh but am bit big IMO

and ride the 16hh eventers as well

as long as you can cope doesnt really matter what you look like

5ft 1 and pony was 12.2hh. Last time I rode him, I did a little bit big on him so I would probably get a 13.3 or sumit. I dont feel comfortable riding bigger than 15.2 ish but thats just me and the horses Ive been around

im 5ft 2 and ellie is 15.3.....the weird thing is, i am on the verge of looking too BIG...because my legs are too long for my body. my legs are longer than those of my friend at uni, and she is 5ft9!

I'm 5'3 and Rosie is 16hh I also ride my mates horses as rosie is off work still

and they are both 17.1 MW Hunters, and TBH I don't look to small on them

Im 5ft9 and Mae is 14.1hh, cause she is a wide cob i look just right for her, used to ride a 16.2hh id. To be honest my confidence wasnt as good with her as it is Mae (not as far to fall lol). Rode my hubbies 17hh tb but again my confidence wasnt too great

I am just nudging 5'2" and am most comfortable on anything about 14.2h, my tallest horse is 15.1h and due to knackered hips I can't get on her from the floor.

I have ridden very tall horses but I just don't feel comfortable way up there, quite happy to ride little ones too. I used to do some pretty big hunters (17 - 18h) and throwing rugs up was hard work, tacking up was a joke and to plait I would stand in the mangers! I prefer to be able to actually see my horses' backs nowadays.

I wouldn't give a hoot about looking silly if I were you, if you want a bigger horse and feel it is right for you, go for it. Life is far too short to worry about what other people think of you, or what they think you should or should not do.

This yard was a bit of a mix, these were two of 'my' boys back then, a 17.2 hunter and a 12h LR pony!

Just under 5'. Cairo - 16.3 clydesdale and Chancer who is 15 hands but will probably be 15.1-15.2 when finished growing.

Since my teens my TBs have all been around 16 hands, though Fleur was 16.3.

I personally prefer a larger horse to ride given the choice.

15.2 and 16.3 im one of these riders that fit any horse , not sure how people come to this conclusion as im only 5'1!!! i dont ride ponies... cant i can turn the quietest lamb into a nutter!!! but with horses i can turn the worst into a relaxed plod!

I think maybe it depends a bit on your build, leg length & arm length too. I'm 5'3" and a bit of a short-arse....ridden 14hh to 17.2, but look a bit of a bugger on the 17.2

I think I look and feel better at around 15.2, not so far to fall off either!
13 yr old daughter on the other hand is my height, but all lovely and slim and long leggy, and looks great on anything, including the 17.2.

You should do what you're happiest doing, and if you want a bigger horse, go for it

Im 5ft 5 and skinny LOL, my horses are 17.3hh and 16.2hh and I feel fine on both of them!

As long as you feel comfortable it doesnt matter how big your horse is.

I'm 5 foot 2 and a half (the half an inch is really important
laugh.gif
), Lady is 13.2hh (but I'm not riding her until I lose some weight) and Fudge is 14.3hh. I ride a variety of horses from 14.1hh to 16.2hh, although I do prefer something under 15.2hh.

I'm 5'3" and my boy is a very substantial MW 16.2/16.3hh. I don't think I look silly and more importantly don't feel overhorsed as he's so easy!

I am 5'2 my pony is 13.1 but at uni I am riding horses around the 16hh mark - which is very nerve racking because of the big difference.
I do feel overhorsed on bigger horses but not all, depends on them and how comfortable I feel on them.

I'm 5'2" - my current horse is 16.2hh-16.3hh. I have also had a 17.1hh TB - yes, I looked really stupid

Luckily both of the big horses I have had are/were real gentlemen, so no control problems for me

i'm 5ft3 and flash is 15hh, I've got quite long legs for my size tho, so can get away with anything really. I love big horses, but wasn't allowed anything bigger than 14.2hh on the yard (he grew hehe)

im 5ft2 and 8.5 stone, and my horse is 16hh, but a fine built TB. narrow finer builds suit me best. i couldnt ride a 16hh wide HW hunter type.

i wil quite happily ride ponies of all sizes too tho!

I'm 5'3'' and my horse is 15.2. She is quite a chunky type and people say I look quite small on her (due to my short leggies no doubt!)

I’m 5ft 6 and Bodey is 15hh. I have had bigger horses but I just prefer the smaller ones, I never struggle to get the saddle or rugs on like I do on my sister’s 17hh.
