Alleluia. They don't want Bob or me with them on the sponsored ride.

Well . I have long planned and fitness trained with bob for a sponsored ride. Mostly this training has taken the mental aspects, with a certain amount of hound exercise ,Bob has some serious previous convictions for sponsored rides . Well , some young ladies from the yard are also going (If they actually get their S<<< into gear and book . I asked them what time slot they wanted ,and suggested that they needed to book. They clearly thought I wanted to join them . I desperately wanted to avoid them but was being polite ! The last thing I want is to nursemaid three novice riders on high performance /thug/lunatic horses across terrain that they have never ridden across ,on their first ever outing ,HELL NO! Well, My bacon has well and truly been saved by the mother of the youngest potential casualty ,who diplomatically explained that they rather wanted to go on their own . Rather surprised by my immediate agreement that I would rather be on my own too.( Preferably a long distance away though I didn't say it)
A has decided that her eventer wants a party and has signed up to join Bob, result everyone gets what they want (though not necessarily what they are going to need). Still feel slightly worried for the three blind mice.

To be honest, not your problem.Go and enjoy yourself and forget them.Hopefully the sponsored ride has help at hand as they must have faced this before.

I would chose to be behind them. If something goes wrong the horses will probably go forwards towards any horses they see in front of them rather than turn back (with or without rider) at which point the horses aren't going to be cannoning past you and you can watch the carnage unfold in front of you from a safe distance.

really pleased for them ,because against all expectations ,they not only survived but had a great time .Wish I could say the same for us . Bob just wouldn't load and said NO. Ultimately went without him. Rather heartbroken as at both our ages this was kind of our last fling. Wanted to pop a few fences on home ground we both knew. Hard to put a brave face on it and give credit where it most certainly is due.

This is horrible. They were mean to you (never too young/old for bloody good manners). And horrible because of how it turned out.
Actually it is ok to feel a bit grumpy about all of this. Give yourself a few days of grumps and then shake it off. If I had been the mother in all this, I would have handled it differently.
