Allen & Page Fast Fibre Sample - Horse LOVES It, Who Feeds It?

As above, had a sample and horse loves it!
Can be a fussy eater and went off his feed when Spring sprung...kicking at his stable door wanting to be out at grass!
Does anyone else feed this or fed this in the past?
I have a connemara, so ever aware of sugars, weight gain etc...and can be fizzy but after reading it has assured me FF shouldn't make them fizzy.
 
I do. Recently started it as I needed a way to get my horse to eat his medication for gastric ulcers. My horse loves it too. I feed him way less than it says on the bag, with his meds and vits in it and a handful of molasses free hi fi. So far it has not made him fizzy or silly and I think I will continue with it when he is off the meds too as it seems very economical.
 
Brilliant stuff and can be used as a hay replacer , pro barefoot people like myself use it, really brilliant stuff, I use that with conditioning fibre , but loads use it alne or with their usual feed
 
Don't use that my do use the A&P Cool and Condition. He's a fussy horse and never finished his feed before but loves this. God knows why as it just looks like horrible porridge ! I tried the Calm and Condition and it sent him very spooky, but went for the Cool one instead.

Think it's time to purchase a full bag as I'll have an unhappy pony once it is all gone!
 
I use it for all mine to put their pro balancer in. I also use it as a drink (make it sloppy) to get water into them after hard work and rides.
 
It is absolutely brilliant. My good doer goes ballistic on just about everything. He doesn't need a feed but needs something to add his supplement to. He is out 24/7 currently and just gets a coffee mug dry with two mugs of water and his supp.

Gets all excited ooh goody my porridge!
 
have been using it on mine since she lost loads of weight one winter.(cushings horse) she wouldn't eat her normal feed and refused hay so I tried fast fibre and added her supplements and baileys light chaff and she hasn't looked back. doesn't seem to make her any fizzier than normal
 
I've been a fan of it for some years now,..we're barefoot and it's a good way of feeding my boy his vits & mins, linseed and mag ox. He 'sings for his supper' every evening and obviously is in favour of this feed that is just used to absorb/mix his supplements in with!

I do notice i can use less of the FF at this time of year, but always enough to use as a mixer, as he much prefers what he finds out in the meadow at the moment!
 
I use it for my good doer pony - she just has a small amount to mix her supplement into and it works well for this purpose. I also find it handy to have around as a quick way to make a mash type feed if I ever need it. However, I do find some horses don't find it terribly exciting and can go off it!
 
Mine is a fussy eater and went off it quite quickly, but I used to work for a pro SJ rider and he fed it to all his competition horses instead of chaff. He really rated it. I feed my mare A+P Veteran Vitality as it's a similar feed (low sugars etc) but has a bit more flavour. I really like Allen and Page feeds :)
 
After speaking to the people on the Allen & Page stand at Burghley (lovely people - very informative and gave lots of good advice) I bought some for both my mares. My younger girl has done well on it although I don't think she was wild about the taste of it - I had to add mint to encourage her to eat it all up. My fussy veteran ate it grudgingly but in the end I used AlfaBeet for her as she wouldn't eat enough FF to keep weight on.

I have also tried cool and collected which my youngster loved (will prolly use that next winter) and my veteran tried a sample of veteran vitality which she loved but cannot be fed as it's not really suitable for laminitics :(
 
I use it as my lot don't really need feed so just use it to get their vits in. They have a egg cup full before soaking with equimins advance complete, linseed, mag ox and a single handful of healthy hooves. I'm a tight mum, a bag lasts me months and months ;)
 
I have three that can get a bit porky in summer and I feed a mugful of FF with a bit of chaff and a handful of fibre cubes this time of year to mix their supplements into. They seem to like it but as they're all so greedy and will eat just about anything that's not much of a recommendation!

Agree! If you give A&P a call they will send a rep out... For an informal chat, they will condition score your horse, chat with you about its type and work, you can then discuss what feed you want and they will send you a bag to try (a whole bag!) :D
 
THANK YOU for all of your comments, I ran out of my samples tonight, only feeding the smallest amount with chaff, vit and carrots and my pony left most of it!! Felt bad as he worked like a trooper tonight! Googled my local stockist and going to buy a full bag tomorrow to get back in the good books with my pony! He has really loved it and haven't noticed any change to his behaviour, and he continues to look well xx
 
Me since Wednesday to give Fly her antibiotics. Off her feed now so having to syringe but that's pain related not the feed. The pony absolutely loves it!

I spoke to the A&P nutritionalist at YHL last year and she said the sugar/starch is a bit too high in VV to be suitable for anything that's had laminitis :( which is a shame because my oldie loved it when I gave her a sample of the stuff. The only product in their range they would recommend for laminitis prone horses is Fast Fibre - this can be fed in bucket loads :) but my girl is not that keen.
