Anyone feed this? I am feeding it to my horse, but not at the recommended feed rate as I wanted to see how he went on it first. I am thinking of upping the feed rate but just wanted to know how much you feed of it to your horses.

I just want a little more ooomph at shows as my horse (a rising 14 yr old 17.1hh m/w WB weighing approx 575KG) is a bit laid back. I ride for about 30 mins four times a week (schooling/gridwork practice) and compete once a week showjumping (normally clear round and two classes).

I am currently feeding four mugs a day (sorry not sure what this weighs).

My horse really likes it, and a little goes a long way. I probably over soak it a little, but I am worried about it expanding in his gut if its not soaked enough.

I tried it for about 2 months thinkiing it would give my laid back pony some energy, It made no difference at all :( he did like it though.

I've come to the conclusion that he is just horizontal and there's no feed I can give him for extra oomph!

I've tried red cell, ener g, oats, soya oil. His now back to his Fast Fibre and Pink Powder

Ive used it on my 5yo warmblood for the past two years and found it great, I feed a scoop of Alfa A oil and a scoop of nuts twice a day . If too much nuts don't add so much water I phoned Allen and page and they said this fine. I found changing from Alfa a to Alfa A oil helped too

I have used this feed for 18 months with my 17hh 750-800kg warmbloodx. He is ridden 5/6 times a week,

schooling 4x (1 hr fairly intense w/t/c/lateral work/ground poles),
hacking/ fast hacking (1hr-4hrs once a week)
jump 1/2 times a week (85cm-95cm)
some xc schooling
compete novice unaff dressage and unaff sj a few times a month

He gets:
1 level scoop normal chaff (morn & eve)
1 level scoop power & perf nuts (morn & eve)
1/2 scoop oats (eve in winter months/ morn & eve summer months)
2 small scoops sugar beet (mor & eve in winter months)

he seems to do really well on the nuts and i think it's much more economical to feed this than a competition mix.

I have never 'soaked' the p&p nuts- only added water to the fed to make it moist. in the winter i just add the sugar beet.

Never experienced any problems. never had colic. although he hasnt ever experienced colic so maybe he is quite 'hardy' when it comes to his feed!

I've used this and it works briliantly for slow release energy on my slightly "Lively" mare who tends to have lots of short term energy, but runs out quite quickly! You can feed small amounts of it, something like 600g is the smallest volume recommended on the bag, My mare gets about half a scoop a day, on top of her winergy low :)
