I'm trying it with my idle ISH. I think it's around £9.60 a sack. He's been on it about 2 weeks & is more fwd, but I'm also feeding oats, peas & propell plus. Can't really comment on stupidity - I can school in high winds bareback with plastic bags in the school fence & he doesn't care.
I know its not what you have asked but I have been feeding Bodey Dodson and Horrell Country Competition Mix and its definitely given Bodey more woo hoo, but in a good way.
will be interested to see how this one goes - was thinking of switching to it.
Currently on the D&H comp mix, but he does need more oomph - although TBH I think this is just him lacking expression/impulsion and not being a fan of schooling he gets naughty!!!
But if we can get more forward activity it would defo help us
Thanks for your replies chaps, would be interested to hear from anyone else. I know it has not been out long though so will probably take a while to get real feed back from users. I think I might try it when my girl comes back into work.
I'm going to try it next year when we are eventing again. Spent a long time talking to A&P about it at YHL as I'm already using Sustain. P&P is similar in energy but it comes from different sources; not alfalfa, barley or molasses. It is said to make horses more focused and sometimes easier to handle on the ground, whilst still giving them the oomph they need. Not changing now as don't want to change over winter when not doing as much as I will be next spring but otherwise I would. Hope that helps.
Many thanks for your reply. I think I will try it next year when she is in full work. The trouble is I need to keep weight on her when she is working and travelling and I am not sure if P&P keeps condition on as well as give them energy.
any feed that gives them 'ooomph' will also give them condition, its all counted in 'energy', a conditioning feed will have a high energy level, its just that it will come from something non-heating and will amke the horse fat but not fizzy, however a competition or heating feed will have the same amount of 'energy' as a conditioning feed but will come from a different source to give the horse go as well as calories... I'm hope that makes sense, if not can someone explain it a bit better for me?
I feed P&P to my two TB's, they are out 24/7 and I use P&P to make sure that they stay fat and to ensure they have enough energy to work. I am very pleased with it so far, they are maintaining weight, have forward momentum and are not silly or spooky... would recommend it...
Hi Scarlett thank you very much for your comments. I will def try it next year when my girl is back in work. She is on holiday at the mo and looking very well. Do you think I will need to feed Outshine as well in the summer when she is working, in the winter when she is off I will not feed P&P she will go back on Baileys No 17, but she is also having Outshine at the moment to put weight on thru winter. Sorry if that sounds daft!
My boy is on it as I wanted a low starch higher fibre competition feed, and he was already on calm and condition and this is the next step up. So far his energy levels are spot on and he isnt quite as silly and stressy as he can be on the higher starch feeds. He has also been fed on Sustain which he got a bit stressy on and didnt keep weight on. He is only on small amounts alongside C+C and Alfa A oil, but will go onto this 100% when eventing with Alfa A Oil and see how we go. Love allen and page feeds, and I have just clipped my lad to the most shiny, grease free skin ever!!
