Allen & Page weight gain mix-opinions/experiences?

It does put weight on well, but is so so starchy I'd never touch it personally! Knew one horse who went on it and did look well, but he was a pretty laid back type anyway!

How about trying their calm and condition cubes instead? They are 5% starch I think. I was recently recommended Saracen Show Improver Pencils but they are 40% starch! Or Top Spec cool condition cubes are low starch/low sugar and good for putting condition on.

i must admit im wary......i think it might blow figs brain and stars stomach?

i cant argue that the horse in question looks fab on it, best he's ever looked but im the starch is just eye watering.....

When we got my sister's horse as a 4 yo he was quite underweight so we put him on this and he did really well. He is a pretty laid back individual though (although we have realised he does react to oats). The only thing we noticed was that it seemed to really make his wee smell - not sure if that's to do with their protexin in the feed.

Put weight on mine but sent him absolutist doolally!!! Virtually unrideable, ruined an expensive flat lesson & reduced me to tears twice trying to school him as turned into a vile monster! Almost unhandleable when not on him either, getting him to the field was interesting & bringing back in at night was a near death experience! Took him off it & within 3 days was back to his normal self. 7 years on I still shudder when I see a bag of the stuff!
