Not for me fortunately however my OH has started having allergy type symptoms quite frequently and I think it may be down to me being at the yard a lot more and mooching around the house covered in horse hair. It was so bad the other day he gave me a hug and rubbed his eye and half his face swelled up!
I have agreed to change as soon as I get into the flat but any more pearls of wisdom would be appreciated for his own saftey as at this rate I am going to cut his nose off if he doesn't stop sniffing and forcing antihistamines down his neck!!!! :mad: Also worried about when I come to getting a horse in the future.
 
I am very allergic to horses so I sympathise with your OH.
I would take off all your outer clothes outside if possible, then take off and wash your inner ones as soon as you get in. Have a shower as well.
He could try a different antihistamine, some work better for different people.
 
Ditto Clodagh. I am allergic and daughters boyfriend is allergic to horses. I take antihistimines. Some days are worse than others tho.
Daughter has to shower and remove all clothing before even going near boyfriend or it can set him off.
Don't know how thats going to work in future as she has already told him if they get a house together it has to have land for horses!!!!
 
My OH loves animals and wants plenty of land and a small managerie!!! I am not sure I can cope with the sniffinf though :S A certain amount he is quite tolerant to I think with me working at the yard at lot and the horses shedding I have hit his threshhold. Thanks for the advice I shall be more diligent in future. Might have to buy one of those curly horses?
 
Opticrom eyedrops are great for OH, they really help deal with the actual reaction not just the itching. If he is swelling up (its not the end of the world, I do sometimes) do be careful though. My m-in-law has to have adrenalin injections for her allergies as she swells up and can't breathe. Thankfully not to horses. (Although I have never been forgiven for untacking my horse before taking her to the hospital once).
 
I don't suppose there are injections that he could have? I know they do them for cat allergies.

That sounds like quite the dilemma...

Time to upgrade the OH! (joke... kind of...)
 
HAHA I know I probably sound insensitive threatening to cut his nose of but after buying posh kleenex and following him round the house with it I think I might scream. He doesn't do himself any favours he actually sticks his face in the cat when we visit my mum. I think I might insist he looks into injections more antihistamines. Eye drops is a good idea too they only swell up when he rubs them it actually looked like I was abusing him! Maybe I'll just have to become a dog person he's fine with terriers :S
