This should probably be in the vet forum so my apologies but there are more people viewing new lounge!

We have had miserable weather here for the last few days - no sunshine at all but my girly came in yesterday with what looks like a sunburnt nose!!

I can't understand it as we have had no sun whatsoever so i am wondering if its an allergy to something in the grass or hedges?? It looks just like sunburn - all red and scabby and on the pink areas of her nose. Has anyone any ideas what this maybe as I am at a bit of a loss??

Also does anyone know of any good products for soothing and clearing it up?? I am using aloe vera gel at the moment but was wondering if there is anything better?

Any help greatly appreiciated!

ditto sudocreme

The sun does not need to be out for your horse to get sunburnt-the UVA rays come through the clouds!

The UVB rays are the other ones with the sun!

Once the horses nose has healed just continue with sunblock that does both uva and uvb rays

good luck

Agree with above - could easily be sunburn, as was the longest day yesterday

However they can get reactions from various noxious weeds. I'd have a rummage in the field for any nasties

Sudocream or metanium should take care of the nose

crikey !! with the weather we have had - torrential downpours in the last 48 hours - i would not have expected this to be sunburn - appreciate we can all get sunburn without any sun but am just really surprised given weather has been so terrible!!!
