My OH has just rang me to say he's taken our dog Candy to the vets today for her cut pad and he's been told she's got an allergy. The vet told him to put her on Salmon Oil so I've just bought some from www.Fish4dogs.co.uk online. Has anyone ever used their Salmon Oil and if so is it any good? She is very 'pink' between her toes apparently which is a sign of this allergy, and she keeps getting little bits of excema on her and recently she has had a nasty cracked pad on her front foot. She needs about a teaspoon a day, I'm just hoping it doesn't make her very fat as we are desperately trying to get the weight off her as she is too fat! Candy is a nine year old beagle (not american beagle instead she was born into a hunt pack but too short at shoulder for them to keep).

I feed raw and the only oil's I will use are cold pressed, this is a good indication that they are quality, particularly cod liver oil, a heat extraction process will kill certain nutrients.

Have you thought about changing the diet? The symptoms you describe are also symptomatic of dietary intollerance.

Thats interesting. Yes we are swapping over to Chappie as recommended by the vets, but are not looking forward to it as previously used chappie used to stink something terrible if I remember. However, I am going back a few years so I am hoping things may have changed! If its the best thing for her then we will have to put up with it.
