Having looked at numerous rave reviews I thought I'd try the avon skin-so-soft spray on my boy, in an attempt to reduce the flys.
I did 3 test patches a few weeks ago - on his neck, belly and a back leg, and left it for 3-4days, no adverse effects.

So these last few days when the flys have been getting worse I thought I'd start using it. The first day was fine, and I applied it the 2nd day. The third morning he had 3 small swollen patches - which I assumed were horsefly bites - as the horseflys have just started getting nasty around us.
Day 4 - lots of little raised/swollen patches, especially around his throat area.

I have stopped using the spray - and gone back to my usual fly repellent, but that was 2 days ago and the lumps haven't gone down.
He is not bothered by them at all. They don't have any broken skin or flaking or anything abnormal, just a slightly raised area.

How long do you think it will take for them to go?
Can I do anything to get rid of them faster - as they are rather ugly and I feel sorry for the poor pony?

Anyone else's horse have similar problems?!
