My Dr and I have now worked out that the pollen from the current hay and haylage is triggering my asthma, so I have to wear a face mask in thee stables now. Anyone else have this problem?

Have you been allergy tested? Just thinking about fungus spores in the air at the moment! They could be adding to the problem. I used to suffer with asthma at this time of year and it was the fungus spores. Plus dust and horses of course!

I found avoiding woodland rides at this time of year really helped. Are there any pine trees near you or the yard? They used to set me off really quickly!

The Spring grass 1st triggered the asthma (never had it before this year), and the current hay and haylage is from that cut of grass.

I walked in to the stables last Monday and immediately started coughing. I took Charlie out for his walk and soon stopped coughing. I brought him back in and immediately started coughing again. I went out to my car and soon stopped again.

We have an American Barn layout, which is not good for problems like this.

I too am very allergic to hay, and have been for as long as I can remember. I use a hay bar, which means that I don't have to handle it as much as I would by stuffing it into haynets.
