Last July my horse decided it would be a great idea to fracture his off hind cannon bone! Long story short, he was on box rest from July - October then due to family illness/circumstances i decided the best move was to move him from DIY to Full livery to get him back up and running with structured rehabilitation.

We had used to showjump affiliated (only British novice level) and never getting round in a nice manner (backwards thinking horse and rider)! Prior to injury the horse (and myself) always overweight and both suffered confidence issues. He used to almost shrivel up and hang back whenever he entered the ring and this in turn did me no favours either as a horse that takes on a double from a standstill kind of sends you off balance!

Anyway, he had done fantastically well in rehab and upon getting signed off from the vet and saying he was recovered we then started on getting him competition fit. This involved dieting him and increasing his workload.

Took him out to his first show a few weeks back at Tushingham, just jumped in the clear round and was really pleased with the results as he jumped lovely, little bit spooky first time and 2nd time a lovely round!

Following on from this convinced my dad to pay for us to re-register with BS as didnt want to waste money on tickets again!

First affiliated event after injury at Field House, took him in the 80cm open and we got a fab double clear and ended up 3rd

Then last night took him back to Field House for the British Novice and the wonderboy was 2nd and jumped really well!

Done lots of more varied work with him to keep his brain ticking and to keep him out of the arena as much as poss

And just to show the attitude is well and truly still there even when i think we are past them days:

Last July i would have been content if the vet had said we could at least just hack again, so to have him out fit and competing has been amazing and exceeded expectations!

Free packet of quavers if you got this far....

PS please dont push buttons on this, photos were taken by a friend for free and video screenshots

What a lovely looking chap. He looks bold and happy in his job. Here's to the next year :)

Thanks, here is to an injury free year

Forgot to say about 9 months before the fracture injury he had a virus which didnt improve for 3 months! Lots of stops along the way but hopefully we have them all done now!

Gorgeous pics, he looks a joy and you look very happy and grinny :D

Thanks, think i best enjoy the goodtimes!

Ohh he's just my type. Well done for getting him back out there and for doing so well.

Thank you, nice to have him back out competing! He is totally my type too! Im in love with the big beast!

He is lovely!

Lovely pics - well done both of you! :)

thanks, still got lots of improving to do and sharpening him up off the leg but he is eventually getting there now!

Give him a fast canter going into the ring yesterday and at one point he locked on to the second part of a double before the bell had even gone! oops! Luckily pulled him up in time!
