Aloe vera juice for humans, anybody used it?

my horse had it for about 6 months in her feed (150mls a day) as recommended by the vet, her skin condition did improve, but having taken her off it it has not since deteriorated! So maybe coincidence!

I've used it on horse when he had a reaction to fly bite and seemed to soothe it for him, also have a plant at home and sometimes use the leaves on skin, don't know how much good it has done me!

I swear by the plant leaves for burns. Many a time I've burnt my hand or wrist on the oven and used it. Takes the sting out and heals without leaving a mark.

Never tried drinking it though. Sorry can't help with that

When my horse was recovering from an operation following a septic tendon sheath he was on Aloe Vera for months! I too absolutely swear by it, he was amazing and to be honest it was fairly cheap aswell! I'd definately give it a go, he looked and no doubt felt fatastic!

Yes - I have used it for years. The extract has to be of a very high quality to use internally and the off the shelf extracts inthe H&B's tend to be poorer quality - so little benefit and possible itrritation.

I use it for heartburn and general "stressed" guts. But when the kids were babies we used it a lot for teething tummy and colic and it worked a treat.

The best brand is the Herbalife brand - PM me for a contact who can talk with you about it, and supply it. Lasts for ages.

I have a plant at home and cut off a leaf or whatever they are when I cut myself and its brilliant.

I used it when I burnt my hand with some burning plastic. It was fantastic although did give me a purple scab!!

Haven't used it on ponies but if you mean have i taken it myself then yes. And its fab. I'm vegetarian and i've got a shocking diet so I think it gave me a bunch of stuff I was lacking.

The biggest difference was with my skin - I don't suffer from spots / acne or anything but it just seemed much clearer.

I'm rubbish at taking it though cause it tastes like p**s.

Agree with other posters who say don't buy shop stuff as such. Forever living products are great though.

tastes vile does nothing.

I have a real plant in my bathroom that is amazing neat on burns or wounds or faces for things, bit sticky but great.

Tasted vile and gave me the runs

It tastes vile and I don't take it, I do give it to equines with excellent results, and I use the gel for all sorts of things. brilliant.

Yes it is good, and if you get the FLP Berry flavour one it doesn't taste too nasty either.

I can't take it because it impacts on my salicylic acid allergies but do know many people who have reported genuine health benefits

my mum used to take some kind of alo vera drink she said it did not tast the best but you could just about get used to it and i think it did help.
she does not have it now as it was rather expensive but she did say she could tell the diffrence when she was not taking it

I used to sell the forever living products' stuff. I swear by the gel and gel from raw leaves for any skin problem at all: especially burns.

Taking it internally cleared up my horribly dry skin last winter, which made it worth its wait in gold to me! And I won't lie, the "side effect" that it also prevented hangovers (many many people reported this) and was a hangover cure also got me hooked too

I did however think the FLP stuff was expensive, and have since done lots of research into the Holland and Barrett stuff which is supposedly lower quality. As far as I can tell, its really not. Its even now certified by the very body that FLP marketed as "the only way to tell if you are getting good quality Aloe Vera" (and which incidently only endoresed FLP for a long time).

I can only surmise that either H&B didn't used to do the liquid stuff (they have done capsules/tablets for ages) or that they have since improved the quality: I think its the latter, as I'm sure I used to tut over inferior products' labels which said things along the lines of "recnstituted" and "from concentrate". H&B stuff now says the same as FLP on the bottle, so make up your own mind. I've just started the H&B stuff to see if it will do anything for my wrist
