I have loads of aloe vera plants at home because once you've got one they spread like wildfire. Can anyone suggest any uses for horses health? I put it on my husband's sun burn and it works a treat, I'm tempted to try it on one of her bald patches and see if it helps the hair grow back.

Anyone had any successes treating things with aloe vera gel?

Stick it on anything is what I've been told! If I can't be bothered to go fishing in the medical cupboard I'll go and pull a bit off our aloe vera plant. I've been putting aloe vera (from a tub) on my horse's sunburnt nose which made it worse at first (blew up a bit which looked strange), but it seems to have helped now as it's healing. I'd personally rather put aloe vera on things (small wound, fly bite, sunburn etc.) than chemical-based stuff!

We used aloe vera on one of my mares sarcoids, it worked fantastically and they havent even threatend to come back, have since used it on any lump, bump or scrape on either the neddies or ourselfs! We both (horses and us) drink it aswell for all round health. Tastes disgusting, but I swear by the stuff.

My boy normally gets a sore on his chin this time of year where he has to wear a grazing muzzle - but I've taken to putting a generous blob of aloe vera gel on every night and so far this year no sore! Yay!

I've used the sap from the leaves to treat a broken knee scar - it really improved the skin colour and quality. I also use it on mud fever and cracked heels.

I use the gel on my horse - where things rub her or she rubs herself!! It has definitely helped where she lost some hair from a rug rub...
I can just about get away with it rather than using medical stuff as she knows when something medical is being opened!!!
