with a lot of hardwork and dedication!! Both mine are on DIY livery about a 10min drive (max) from my house.
I get up at 545 am every morning in the week to muck out/feed/turn out. I then go home, get ready for work, have brekkie and walk to work to get there for 845. I finish work around 330, however i dont take any breaks during the day. I then get a lift home from my mum and get changed and go straight to the yard.
Arrive at yard around 415, catch in/muck out ride both mine with some help from my mum. Then feed them both, get home around 630/7ish, have tea, do my Uni work and go to bed!!
Moms are great aren't they i start at 7 to bea ble to finish in time to do them so my mom does them every weekday morning! I have to fit the boyf in for a couple of hours a night to and the dog! Madness isn't it but love every minute (except winter)
I used to be DIY til career took new direction and erratic hours mean have no option but to pay for muckout/turnout/feeding etc etc. I still go up every day to check him over and make a fuss of him. I probably ride 3-4 times a week and with lunging he gets worked most days.
i always sed my horse was my ideal man, He was tall dark & handsome & had the most squeezable bum. He was bit of a grumpy old man. But if i could have changed him into a human he would have definatley have been my ideal man. But then i end up getting engaged to a short blonde fella. Nevermind!
Me & hubby are up at 5.40am to muck out, bed down and feed the 12 horses at home. Finish that around 6.30am, inside breakfast shower and in to work for 8am. Try and finish work around 3.30pm to get home (work through lunch & breaks) and do the same again in the evening. Although just now we are also busy in the evenings with building the new shed. Then we we start the breeding season it will be non stop all evening throughout the summer........
As said above, "with a lot of hard work and dedication". On top of this we have an excellent family who help out and are on hand all day while we are at work.
Mine is on full livery because I work from 8.30am to 7pm. I go straight to the yard every night after work and groom and ride and don't get home until nearly 10 on a night. I work some Saturdays and Sundays too and sometimes am on call at nighttime. On my nights on call I just put Jen on the horse walker so she still gets a leg stretch but if I do get called in to work I can still make a quick get away. This weekend I'm working both days and on call both nights so a friend is going to ride her for me but I'll still try and call in at some point to check she is ok.
