Does Alpha-A really give some horses energy, make them go a bit loopy? I have taken Corroy off it as she just decided she didn't like it, but it did seem to give her a lot on energy, which was good. Question is what is it in there that does this?

It is pure alfalfa so relatively high in protein. More so than other forages.

It wouldn't be like feeding oats or barley, but if you think what spring grass does to some horses, then I would say it could definitely give your horse lots of energy!

Rum goes loopy on it all apart from Hi-Fi Lite, brilliant stuff for ponies! Sunny is permemently loopy anyway, but she has had to come off the Oil one because i couldnt take that anymore and she didnt like it so she gone onto normal Alpha-A. But the others are fine on it! I think the spring grass is beggining to come through aswell! You dont have to feed the chaff atall, as long as your horse is getting enough forage you only really need if your horse eats too fast.

In that case, you need to wiegh how much Alpha A you were giving her, then work out how much protein was in that ration (should say on the bag, or their website will have it.)

Then you need to find something else she will eat, and work out how much of that you need to feed to get the same amount of protein!

You could also try another type of chaff type feed - how about Readigrass? Being pure, dried grass, I can't think that she wouldn't like it!
