Hiya, I have recently purchased a gelding out of Alpine Time by Rudimentery and am trying to track down his breeder. He was born in 1999 and raced in Hong Kong under the name Classic Symphony. If anyone knows where I might find his breeder I'd be very grateful (he would have to be the nicest horse I have ever dealt with). Thanks.

I did this just recently with my yearling filly!
I rang Weatherbys for the address which they are unable to give due to data protection but were very willing to pass on any (stamped!) letter on to them as long as I quoted name, breeding, date of birth, passport/microchip number, etc in a covering letter. As good as their word, luckily, within a week I had a lovely long email back from the breeder telling me lots about her and her family.
It only costs two stamps to try it, I hope you're as lucky as me!

Well, as long as you have his racing name that should be enough; I only gave them all the info I had to 'prove' I had a right to be put in touch with the breeder if that makes sense. Just give them everything you have, I presume you have his proper passport, it will all be in there; you might be able to glean something from the sketch too like where it was done, the vet who did it too - can you tell I've done this before?!
Good luck, let us know how you get on.
(send the letter to the Stud Department, Weatherbys, Sanders Road, Wellingborough, Northants. NN8 4BX)

Unfortunately I don't have a passport (I actually don't know if they need one to come into NZ...note to self, must find out) but I will drop them a line as the mare could only have had one foal in 1999

so they should be able to track things down if they are feeling kind and generous (fingers crossed).

You're in luck!
Alpine Time ,94 by Tirol x Millie Musique.

AT had 99, Elementary Watson by Rudimentary - so different name but same breeding, you'll need to give W's both;
00, Revolve by Pivotal
02, Yeoman Lass by Bluebird
03 Alpine Maiden by Diktat.

Oh how interesting!!!!! I'm so glad they changed his name to Classic Symphony. LOL (His owners in Hong Kong had lots of 'Classic' names.) I did find him on the Hong Kong website with videos of all his races (bless him, he wasn't a particularly talented racehorse. :-) but he is a FABULOUS riding horse. I will start writing my letter. Thanks a million, I am gradually piecing his past together.
