Now that I'm hooked on going out with the bloodhounds ;) I need to sort myself a hunt coat. Making do with tweed at the moment but want something proper.

Unfortunately I'm an awkward size, a UK size 4-6, but long back, long arms - current jacket is a maids 28, still too big on the body but arms slightly too short! I can't afford a made to measure hunt coat, so I'm debating whether to try and locate a secondhand coat and have it taken in by a decent tailor. Has anyone tried this?

Or any other suggestions on where to find small but adult sized coats that won't require me to take out a small loan!?

Gosh, you're tiny!
I've had a hunt coat altered, a military tailor did it. I guess they're used to working with similar fabrics for dress uniforms etc, but would have thought any good tailor could alter it.
I'd keep an eye on ebay for something that would be the right length and have it taken in?

That's a great suggestion re a military tailor - I'd imagine they would do a very good job, high standards and all that! Yes been checking out eBay but not seen anything yet.

I'd quite like to be a more normal size lol as I have a nightmare getting things to fit properly!!

The job they've done on my coat is amazing! It's so nicely finished, and now all the local ladies go there when they've got their buttons to get their collars put on. Bonuses to living near a garrison town I guess!
Could your hunt secretary do an email round to see if anybody is selling one? Most supporters clubs round here have a facebook page too, there's often sale and wanted adverts on there too.

Where are you HuntingB? Probably no where near me but worth a shot!

I will check out the fb pages of some of the other local hunts, we seem to be spoilt for choice in the SE!!
