I understand that a senior rider in eventing attended Floors Castle International event in 2013 and when two of his competing horses passports showed that they had just been vaccinated (and therefore the horses were ineligible to compete) an excuse was made regarding a horse mix up and both passports were date altered and then presented to allow them to compete. The competitor was quietly taken aside and asked to withdraw, but refused. He was told that the vaccinations would be checked with his vet, but when this was done the vet stated that he had been told that he had been told not to give out any information to the events vet or ground jury.
The class has a 3 person ground jury, steward and technical delegate, all of whom are aware of this deception. So what has happened? Nothing! Has the matter been reported to the FEI? Has there been a full investigation? Does B.E. know?
Or has it all been brushed under the carpet?
If the passports are altered, then both horses can't compete on them last year, this year or any other year.
In racing the punishments are severe for matters of this type. In FEI eventing it seems the authority prefers to keep the whole thing quiet and do nothing. Is it one rule for a senior rider and another for the rest of us?
