Wondering how much a bridle can be altered to fit? I need about 2” off the cheek pieces and quite a bit off the noseband, it’s Full and I need Cob. Pretty loathe to buy new parts as the leather won’t match and this is lovely and soft, there’s a huge sentimental attachment too.

Tried to attach a pic but the file is too large ?

I often shorten cheek pieces - they are generally too long for modern bits; 2 inches is a perfectly normal amount to take off. Nosebands are trickier because when you alter the nose strap the head strap needs to be repositioned so remains in alignment with the cheek straps but can be done my any competent bridle maker.

Thanks guys, I did think the cheek pieces would be quite a straightforward job which is fortunate as the correct length isn't available in the right width so I'd have had to have them custom made. I need to try it on her again in the daylight but I *think* I might just get away with the length of the noseband and just get some length taken off the overhead/hanger. Fingers crossed!
