altering a hacking jacket?

hi,

someone gave me a hacking jacket and I am thinking about having it altered. The length, shoulder width and sleeve length are great it is just a bit big around the body as I am quite slim. I don't really wear it very much so can't justify the cost of a new jacket.

Has anyone had a jacket altered? If so roughly how much might it cost and do you think it would turn out ok?!

Never had one altered, but if the jacket is in good condition, you could alway sell it to offset the cost of a new one. you can get them at a reasonable price. you might find that paying a good seamstress would be just as expensive.

that's a good idea.

I just had a quick look online and all the hacking jackets seem to be over £100!! Maybe i am looking in the wrong places.

Never worth it. Much better to sell it on and buy one that fits especially for occasional use. How slim are you? I may have one that fits. PM if interested!
