Hi everyone! Yes another saddle thread!
I am currently putting my mare back to work, after having a foal last year. Her back has changed quite a bit and she has become fussy about the saddle I use. Of course the best would be to have a fitter bit I live in Asia and there isn't one in the country.
So for now, I am into the trial and error type I search, but with only very few options available.
Her back is quite wide, but she has a fairly long wither and is curvy front to back. She clearly tells me when she doesn't like a saddle.
So far the only one she seems to like is a very old wintec pro dressage with no cair, fitted with an extra wide gullet.
I did try her with more recent wintecs she positively hated it.
Last resort I could try buying back this saddle from the club but its in terrible condition and I feel really bad in that saddle.
The twist is just so wide I have bruises on my tights! I have heard somewhere that the old wintecs when fitted with a large gullet are very curvy, so I'm guessing this is why she enjoys it so much.
Does anyone know a saddle with a comparable fit that would be more comfortable? I need a 16 or 16,5 seat, I'd prefer a saddle I can jump in but if it has to be dressage, well I'll take it... For dressage saddle, I have a short leg so I need a short flap.
Price range would ideally stay under 600£ ...
Any idea would be welcome!
