Alternative to Animo?

Hi to you all :)

My daughter is really in need of a new show jacket for showjumping and nearly everyone on the circuit seems to have the Animo jackets! She really likes them, but I am a single parent doing the best I can and really cannot afford to pay £400 for a new jacket for her (as much as I would like to).

I just wondered if anyone could offer any alternative suggestions for say, less than £250. She'd really prefer the technical material and would either like black, navy or dark grey. Her friend has just got the new Pikeur Shannon jacket for less than £200 which looks really nice with a bit of added bling, but as nice as it is, my daughter doesn't want to be seen as 'copying' so we've ruled that one out!

Absolutely any suggestions welcome - would also even consider a really nice second hand one if it was in super condition.

Thank you

Try the Gersemi Idun. They are very stylish the technical fabric and not many people have them! And they are in your budget.

I predict Spooks Equestrian is going to be the new Animo

I've got a show shirt and its kept its shape after many washes. I've tried on the jackets and just to warm people i'd say they are on the short/ small side especially arm length- which was main reason i didn't buy off the rack at the time but considering getting one made for bday

I've not bought from these (went via deutch site) but gives you a British idea on price http://www.horse-security.com/page7.php?category=33&view=productListPage

Hope that helps and happy shopping. GPA also do some soft shell but not been web ferreting to find those! I have a Pikeur Ghia and the thing that disappointed me is the traditional lining in the sleeves which IMO defeats the object of breathable outer and makes my arms very sweaty!!

Thanks again for yet more suggestions...

So far I think my daughter will probably like the Prestatie or the Spooks ones, as being a teenager approaching 15, I think she will like a bit more 'bling' than just plain navy or black.

Does anyone actually own a Prestatie or Spooks jacket and can vouch for them?

Thanks

I thought the Prestatie looked great in the pictures as did the competition shirts. In reality I felt they were not so wow. As a dressmaker I was not impressed with the finish on the jacket, the sleeves were not very well set in and the lapels rolled over rather than lay flat on the jacket if that makes sense. Only seen one person wearing one and thought it looked a strange shape around the head of the sleeve and not particularly smart. Also be aware that their sizing comes up small. Personally think the Spooks one looks nicer but would want to see one in the flesh and on before making a decision to part with my money.

Thanks sillygillyhorse :)

Hmmm I wonder if anyone actually owns a Spooks one - I have to be honest I had never heard if them! They look quite nice though.

The Spooks german website lists a company called Espayo Equestrian in near Warwick as a stockist, the link I posted was for the tack shop at Keysoe (currently sold out though) if either of those retailers are close to you

I have a prestatie one and Sillygillyhorse is right they are funny sizes!! Im a size 8 but fairly well endowed so go for 10s in jackets to make sure they do up! Sent them my measurements and they said i would need a 12!! I have the 12 and its fine although the sleeves are quite long and its a bit baggy round the waist.
I do really like it though and get alot of comments on it but i do think it was over priced!

I loved the prestatie jacket on the website tried it on at Bramham & agree with SGH that their sizing is very small - i'm not stick but i felt like i was gong to do an incredible hulk and rip it when just trying it on i also thought the finish on the spooks one was better it looked less like pieces patched together which is what i thought re the Prestatie one.
I first saw the spooks one when visiting Hamburg last year so they have been around remembered them as thought they were alot cheaper than others at the time but didn't appear less worthy/ poor quality

theres also Alberto Albenese (sp?) and Manfredi but not sure on price

really just look at online equestrian stores from other european countries and you will find alot more variety as they've had these jackets for years and years now

Am really quite struck on the Spooks ones now, have e-mailed the only UK supplier I can find to see if I can get an idea on sizing as they come in XXS, S, M etc. which doesn't tell me a lot! lol

I have one it is nice enough, not the quality of the Animo obviously but good enough. I have spruced it up by putting a silver braiding around the collar and down the pockets :D

There is another one one on ebay right now that looks even better I think it was £120 not sure this is technical but its stretchy so probably near enough

can totally vouch for quality and durability. A friend is sponsored by them and all the clothes are well designed and a good fit. The show jackets are very smart and elegant and the show shirts are so pretty!
