Hi

Im looking for ideas on something else i can feed my 17.2 mare as hay at our yard is so expensive, what else can i give her to help keep her full, at the moment she is having near 3 hay nets aday as they dont get much turn out. I thought about a toy, but would like her to have her forage as well... so thinking 1 hay net, the alternative to hay and toy. she also has two meals aday.... any advice grately received. :o

You could fill a tub trug with one of the Dengie chaffs, Hi Fi can be used as a total hay replacer if needed and it takes a while to chew so keeps them occupied. There is also Allen and Page fast fibre, although I find they eat that pretty quickly, and soaked sugar beet or high fibte cubes. Another option would be to hang some nets of straw up or even the bagged haylages might work out cheaper than the hay at the moment.

hi spinaltap, how much are those liciebrix they look perfect.... where do u get them from, online?

I can't remember exactly how much they cost and you have to speak to Simple System & find out who your local stockist is :o I'm useless sorry, I get all my SS stuff via a friend & I just write her a cheque when I'm told to :o:o If you ring the number on the SS website I'm sure they will tell you everything you need to know! :)
