Pooh-Bah
One of our horses is being a pain when left on the lorry, banging and neighing and generally stropping. She's not stressing I don't think, yet, just objecting and I don't see why we should take another pony along to just stand there as a nanny as they can be longish days and it really isn't fair as it wouldn't get off the lorry. Has anyone thought of taking another sort of animal, say a goat or something, which would be able to lie down in the box and move about so not compromised as much from a welfare POV?
ATM she gets a haynet and someone stays in the living - a situation she is happy with, but there aren't many people I can (or really like to) ask to babysit. We don't pander to her but doing the leaving her til she stops approach simply doesn't work - as damage to her and the box have shown
She isn't ours and therefore I am even more anxious not to damage her, but she has been used to getting her own way and is short of a few manners. She travels and stands perfectly well alone and doesn't nap (though she does call a little) to her companions when she's the one who is off the lorry!
Anyone think it's worth trying a goat or maybe even the stable chicken - in a cage, of course?
I really think it's tight taking a pony along as it's hectic enough at a show to have an extra one to get off for leg-stretches...
Ideas on a postcard - or better still on here!
