Alternative treatments for splints - please help!

I've just had the vet out for my young horse and he's unfortunately got a splint thats about two inches right on the side of his cannon bone. I'm getting x-rays next week, he's on anti-inflammatory and antibiotics for a cut he sustained too. As of yet the vet said it wouldn't affect his career, (he's not even broken in yet!) but he may need surgery.

I was just wondering if anyone knew of any alternative therapies that might help? Any suggestions welcome!
