Has anyone got any cost effective ideas as an under blanket, for use with a turn out rug, something that can stay on whilst I change day/night rugs? the Brand name ones are so expensive!!

Depends what thickness you are looking for! We use a good old bedroom duvet - just a cheap one - as an underblanket at night, whilst in the field we just put a cheap fleece blanket on, which seems to work nicely. Fleece rugs are so cheap now it's unbelievable!

Well, I actually transformed an old sleeping bag once.
How are you with a sewing machine/needle and thread?
I've seen plenty on old duvets etc used, and by adding a buckle here and a couple of cross over surcingles there, you have a blanket that stays on!! VERY cost effective!!

Well I'm no domestic Godess!!! lucky if the kids get thier hems up in thier school trousers, think i'll go down the fleece rug line, just worried there maybe too many buckles at the chest, so maybe an anti rub vest too, where does it end!!
